CHAPTER 17 THE EFFECTS OF POOR LEADERSHIP AT HOME
HOW DYSFUNCTIONAL LEADERSHIP UNDERMINES FAMILY HARMONY, GROWTH AND WELLBEING
Poor leadership in a family setup can have several consequences:
Lack of direction and purpose:
Without clear goals or vision, family members may feel lost or unmotivated, leading to a lack of unity and direction.
Emotional distress:
Poor leadership can create an environment of emotional neglect or abuse, affecting the mental health and well-being of family members. This is where suicide emanate from.
Role modeling:
Children may adopt negative behaviors and attitudes from poor leadership, impacting their development and future relationships. Children have a tendency of duplicating what they see more than what they are told.
Conflict and tension:
Ineffective leadership can lead to unresolved conflicts and ongoing tension within the family. Everyone has to feel comfortable at home, a home is a place of rest. We go to work and come back home to rest.
Disempowerment:
Family members may feel undervalued or unempowered, leading to a lack of confidence and independence. We are duty bound to empower our family members, we capacitate them for the future /face life realities.
